In the heart of Innerleithen lies this gem of printing history. Robert Smail’s Printing Works is an operational letterpress printers and an important part of Scotland’s industrial heritage.

Perhaps the most beautiful of all the Border Abbeys, the ruins of Dryburgh Abbey are remarkably complete and surrounded by beautiful grounds. First established in 1150, Dryburgh Abbey became the premier house in Scotland of the Premonstratensian order and today continues to have peaceful atmosphere.

The Great Tapestry of Scotland

One and a half miles east of Melrose, at the edge of Newstead village lies the site of Trimontium Roman fort. The site is now agricultural land, with undulations in the landscape giving subtle clues as to what lies below the surface.

Dawyck Botanic Garden is a five star Garden renowned for its seasonal displays of snowdrops, bluebells, rhododendrons, azaleas, blue poppies and autumn colour.
Located in the hills of the Scottish Borders, 65-acre Dawyck enjoys an almost continental climate comprising warm dry summers followed by cold, snowy winters.

This cliff-top nature reserve has fresh sea air and rugged coastal scenery aplenty. It gives you the feeling of being somewhere really wild and remote, yet it’s just off the A1.
