We have a variety of animals here at the centre from geckos and snakes to mice, meerkats and ring-tailed lemur! Many of our animals have come to us through various rescue centres across the UK and at Fernvalley we offer them a home for life.

St Magnus Cathedral dominates the skyline of Kirkwall, the main town of Orkney, a group of islands off the north coast of mainland Scotland. It is the most northerly cathedral in the United Kingdom, a fine example of Romanesque architecture built for the bishops of Orkney when the islands were ruled by the Norse Earls of Orkney.

Orkney Day Tours 

Among the tall green grass and purple heather between Loch Harray and Stenness, the Ring of Brodgar standing stones thrust from the earth like rusting giants’ swords. At 340 feet (104 meters) in diameter, 27 of the original 60 stones survive, making this the third-biggest stone circle in Britain. 

Ring of Brodgar

Yesnaby Castle is found just south of the Brough of Bigging in Yesnaby on the west coast of Orkney mainland. (GR 218154) The stack was made famous by Joe Brown and his mates who made the first ascent in 1967, subsequently this stack and the Old Man of Hoy are the only two stacks in Orkney who regularly receive assaults by visiting climbers.
