With stunning vistas overlooking Montrose Basin and set amid glorious gardens and woodland, House of Dun is every inch the perfect 18th-century laird’s home – and a fantastic day out for all the family. Built in 1743 to replace the medieval tower house that had been home to the Erskine family since 1375, the house is filled with treasures that tell the stories of the people who lived here.

The Bothy Experience, home of the award winning Gin Bothy is nestled in the historic village of Glamis in Angus, minutes from Glamis Castle.
The Experience like a bothy is free to explore, our Bothy Beginnings room takes you through our Gin Bothy journey while our Bothy Tales room tells the story of Scottish Bothies.

Peaceful Barry Mill might be a haven of tranquillity now, but it was once the beating heart of a rural community – supplying food, providing a place for trade and gossip, and witnessing the transition from a rural to an industrial society. The water-powered mill produced oatmeal and other foods, as well as providing work for local people, for almost 800 years – right up until 1982.

J M Barrie, creator of Peter Pan, spent his childhood in this small whitewashed cottage, and it’s here that you can see traces of the creative spirit he was set to become. The son of a weaver, Barrie lived with his seven brothers and sisters in two upstairs rooms, while his father’s weaving workshop was downstairs.
