Andrew Carnegie Birthplace

Steel tycoon, stockbroker, writer, lecturer, entrepreneur, philanthropist - Andrew Carnegie was one of the great Scots of the 19th century. His life has left a huge legacy, but as his birthplace cottage testifies he came from humble beginnings. Adjacent to the cottage is the beautiful Art Deco museum hall, built by Andrew Carnegie’s widow in 1928. 

The Wardlaw Museum takes visitors inside the University of St Andrews. Four new thematic galleries on the University's groundbreaking research and global impact showcase its extraordinary art, history, science and natural history collections.

Hill of Tarvit was originally known as Wemyss Hall. In 1904, the new owner, Frederick Sharp, commissioned architect Robert Lorimer to transform the 17th-century house into a modern 20th-century mansion to display his amazing collection of fine art, porcelain and many other items. When the Sharp family moved into Hill of Tarvit, they had electricity, telephones and central heating.

Falkland Palace & Garden provides a unique opportunity to explore a royal ‘pleasure palace’ with a Victorian twist.
Inspired by the grand châteaux of France, successive Stuart royals transformed this favoured retreat into the Balmoral of its day, now one of the finest surviving examples of Renaissance architecture in Scotland.

The garden is a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. There is lots to see over our 18 acre site including a rock garden, rhododendron glade, pond, pinetum and much more! We are also busy developing our new and exciting Tangled Bank area in the garden, which will showcase the very best of Fife’s habitats. It’s also a great spot to bring a picnic.

St. Andrews Botanic Gardens

A small, local zoo in Fife with a mission to promote the conservation of biodiversity through education, research and our own passion for the natural world. They currently have around 15 species and are constantly developing the site.
